Optimal energy management of three-stage LNG cold energy cascade utilization in multi-energy microgrid
The demand for Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) has been experiencing substantial growth on a global scale. When regasification, LNG releases a large amount of cold energy, which shows great potential for various applications. This paper proposes an optimal energy management method for three-stage LNG cold energy cascade utilization in a multi-energy microgrid (MEMG). Firstly, a three-stage cascade utilization of LNG cold energy model is proposed, which considers flexible coupling between adjacent utilization stages. Then, this cascade utilization model is integrated into the MEMG energy management framework. Considering the MEMG characteristics as well as uncertainties of renewable generation and load demand, a two-stage stochastic optimization method is employed to reformulate the energy management model based on the sampled scenarios, which can be efficiently solved. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed energy management method can effectively enhance LNG cold energy utilization, and reduce operating cost and carbon emissions.
