A capacity planning approach for a hydro-wind-PV complementary system considering multi-scenarios based on power time-frequency characteristics
It is anticipated that renewable energies will be instrumental in the attainment of carbon neutrality in numerous countries. The hydro-wind-PV complementary operation has the potential to enhance the integration of renewable energy sources into the power grid. Nevertheless, the reasonable capacity configuration mode and size for a hydro-wind-photovoltaic hybrid energy system (HWPS) remains a persistent challenge. This study proposes a capacity planning framework for the HWPS considering multi-scenarios based on power time-frequency characteristics. First, the indication system from both time domain and frequency domain characteristics is established considering the coupling characteristics of wind and solar power output. The density peaks clustering method is employed to generate typical planning scenarios by utilizing these indicators as clustering feature values. Furthermore, CVaR serves as the risk measurement index for estimating the profit uncertainty under different scenarios. Based on this, the multi-scenario capacity planning models are proposed for the HWPS to maximize the equivalent annual profit and minimize the profitable risk of power generation company. The findings indicate that clustering scenario generation with time-frequency characteristics is beneficial for integrating wind and solar resources and reducing grid costs for the generation company.
