Resilient enhanced dynamic microgrid dominated by multiple types of distributed resources

Dynamic microgrids (MGs) possess a flexible operational topology and adaptive power flow management, enabling them to effectively mitigate power losses in distribution networks caused by extreme events. This paper investigates the cooperative operation of grid-forming (GFM) and grid-following (GFL) distributed generators (DGs) during the fault recovery process of dynamic MGs, with the aim of optimizing the collaborative recovery potential of diverse resource types. A dynamic MG framework, driven by multiple DG types, is proposed, along with the design of corresponding distributed controllers to facilitate the autonomous and coordinated operation of various resources. Several control modes are developed to enhance system resilience. In the coordination within region mode, secondary regulation of system frequency and voltage is achieved, alongside proportional power sharing among DGs. In the reconstruction between regions mode, seamless transitions in system topology are enabled. A comprehensive case study validates the proposed approach's effectiveness in improving the fault recovery resilience of dynamic MGs.
