Assessment of renewable energy integration based on sequential production simulation considering power flow constraints
As the scale of renewable energy installations grows, enhancing the grid's capacity to accommodate renewables and reducing the curtailment rate presents new challenges. This paper assesses the grid's renewable energy accommodation capacity to inform planning and development strategies. Firstly, the paper linearizes the power flow of the transmission network using an approximation method tailored to its characteristics. Secondly, it integrates transmission network power flow constraints int o a traditional time series production simulation model, proposing a new model that accounts for these linear constraints. Additionally, an iterative method-based strategy for selecting critical time sections is established to ensure full-time power flow feasibility within the time series production simulation optimization model, enhancing solution efficiency. Finally, using the IEEE 30-node system as a benchmark, the model is solved with CPLEX through MATLAB and YALMIP and assesses the system's annual renewable energy accommodation level. Simulation results demonstrate the model's accuracy and feasibility.
