Joint optimization method of equipment shutdown and backup battery regulation considering multi-base station cooperation
As renewable energy sources like wind and solar power see increasing penetration into the grid, driven by "dual carbon" targets, they introduce uncertainty that poses significant operational challenges for grid stability. Simultaneously, with the rapid deployment of communication base stations, power costs for operators are rising sharply. This paper investigates the demand response potential within base stations, focusing on AAU module shutdown and connection adjustments as strategies to balance energy efficiency with operational needs. By selectively shutting down AAU modules when the communication load is low, base stations can achieve significant energy savings without compromising user service quality. Furthermore, we analyse how these communication network adjustments can amplify the demand response capacity of backup batteries, thereby providing additional grid stability benefits. Our findings show that the combined optimization of channel shutdown and battery reserve management enhances both grid flexibility and economic efficiency.
