Kościół na kontynencie cyfrowym – duszpasterstwo w sieci
A burgeoning development of the media, coupled with the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, sparks a debate on the issue of using the media for the sake of pastoral care. This article aims to present the Church ministry in the new media. The text begins with a characterization of the new media, and a recognition of challenges and dilemmas regarding their use in pastoral care, which cannot be neglected in the face of an extensive and uneasy plane of modernity. Finally, it pinpoints the perspectives that should be acknowledged in the Church’s activity in the future. The article relies on the method of analysis, mostly of the teachings of the popes and of the literature relevant to the topic, as well as on the method of synthesis and interpretation, especially when formulating perspectives and possibilities of using the new media in pastoral care. The performed analysis suggests that the new media, despite their limitations, constitute an important tool of evangelization, help to spread Christian values and offer space for a debate to search for answers to some burning questions, raised especially by those who are not very close to God and the Church.
