Development of an IoT based Screening and Sanitizing System for Protection against Communicable Diseases

Due to the recent outbreak of communicable diseases like Nipah virus, Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-1), Coronavirus, monkeypox etc, it has become a necessity to use sanitizers, non-contact thermal guns and many other sensors to check the vital stats of any/ every person entering an official complex or an isolation ward or even one’s house. Furthermore, devices like non-contact sanitizers and ultraviolet based decontamination chambers can be used to strengthen the first wall of defense, but due to the expensive nature and limited usability these devices individually are not an ideal choice. The main aim of the proposed system is to eliminate the need of multiple products for screening humans for coronavirus as well as for non-contact spraying of sanitizers on the hand and the ultra violet sanitization of materials. In the developed system the IoT (Internet of Things) feature is added which enables the critical parameters readings that determine the health state of an individual to be recorded and maintained over the cloud interface. The proposed system ensures contactless screening of a person and the vital stats obtained from the interfaced sensors are transmitted in real time using IoT. Therefore, the primarily detection of the symptoms in a person that may arises due to the communicable disease in a remote manner and the need for contactless sanitization motivates to develop the proposed system.
