RIS-NOMA Systems in Nakagami-m Channels: Performance Metrics

This paper comprehensively analyzes Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) systems augmented by Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) under Nakagami-m fading channels. NOMA, which enhances spectral efficiency and connectivity, is integrated with RIS technology to improve the system performance. The study is done to evaluate the performance metrics using bit error probability (BEP), outage probability, and ergodic capacity under various configurations of RIS and successive interference cancellation (SIC) conditions (perfect and imperfect). This research provides foundational results for optimizing RIS-NOMA designs, showcasing their applicability for next-generation wireless networks, including ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) and Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios.
