Implementation of Asynchronous Communication using LoRa and MQTT for Military Force Tracking Applications
This paper presents the design and implementation of an asynchronous communication system utilizing LoRa and MQTT protocols for real-time military force tracking. The proposed system integrates the long-range, low-power capabilities of LoRa with the lightweight, efficient data transfer features of the MQTT protocol to enable secure and reliable communication for military applications. We discuss the system’s architecture, including the hardware components such as Raspberry Pi and Dragino LoRa GPS modules, and the software environment comprising programming languages and network libraries. The methodology emphasizes the network architecture that supports data flow from sensors and devices, providing robust, encrypted communication to ensure network security. Performance evaluation is conducted through extensive tests, focusing on data transmission reliability, latency, and power management. Results highlight the system’s feasibility and effectiveness in various military scenarios, such as troop localization and tactical battlefield awareness. Finally, the paper compares this approach to existing synchronous communication technologies, discusses its implications for military operations, and provides recommendations for future research and development.
