Wireless Sensor Networks and the LEACH Protocol: A Promising Approach for Efficient Data Collection and clustering
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) has emerged as a game-changing technology, facilitating the integration of diverse sensing devices for data collection across various applications. Although, the limited energy resources of sensor nodes appears as a significant challenge. Traditional routing techniques often lead to excessive energy consumption, resulting in premature node failure and degraded network performance. In response, the Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) protocol has emerged as a promising solution. LEACH employs a cluster based routing system, wherein sensor nodes self-organize to form clusters and elect cluster heads (CHs) to manage data aggregation and transmission, thereby minimizing energy consumption and extending network lifetime. This study investigates the efficacy of the LEACH protocol in WSNs for efficient data collection. Our research contributes to the existing body of knowledge by elucidating effective implementation strategies and optimization techniques for the LEACH protocol in diverse WSN applications. This study fosters the advancement of WSN technology and its applications across industries.
