Design and Development of an Inter-digital Capacitive Sensor-based Water-level Monitoring System
The design and development of an instrumentation system for water level monitoring based on inter-digital capacitive (IDC) sensors is presented in this study. The IDC sensor is fabricated on a printed circuit board (PCB) and connected to the bridge circuit's one arm. The experimental performance was tested in the laboratory. The designed instrumentation system is developed with a Wien series bridge circuit, an instrumentation amplifier, and a peak voltage detector circuit. This technique converts the water level into the sensor capacitance, and the developed electrical circuit converts it into a corresponding voltage. The width and height of the proposed sensor are equal, and it is found that this water transition detector has good linearity, small deviation, and high uniformity. The seven consecutive day result analysis exhibits the good repeatability of the system.
