Digital Twin Technology for Process Control Stations
In today’s modern era, digitalization is viewed as a prospect to reach higher productivity levels and mass customization of products. The age of the digital era enhances industry 4.0 technologies and allows easy interconnection of multi-functional and multi-disciplinary devices. It reviewed and proposed an integration of virtual software of SIEMENS origin, such as COMOS Plant view, SIMATIC Manager, and SIMIT, for creating digital twin process control systems in process industries. The virtual representation of the industry helps us avoid any major mishaps. It allows monitoring and controlling the whole process station from a single workstation. COMOS offers a wide range of virtual tools. The data feed can be monitored by SIMIT and interlinked with the SIMATIC Manager. When all these systems mentioned above are integrated, the proposed design offers an easy, alterable simulation of the virtual environment, which can be adopted and used for testing and simulation before the real setting up of equipment in the industry. Digital twins of process control stations simulate the station and optimize the processes before the installation. Also, the process can be executed parallel to take necessary actions.
