Enhancing Energy Efficiency in Emerging Countries: A Comparative Study of FPGA Families Using the LS7212 Delay Timer
There is a significant energy shortage in many emerging countries right now. But a team of researchers and developers has developed an energy-efficient LS7212 Delay Timer using the Xilinx Vivado tool and several FPGA generations; this has paved the way for green communication. We evaluated and analyzed two separate families, Zync and Kintex, to find the best power-efficient FPGA series. A comparison of the Zync and Artix-7 families reveals that the former used 0.683 Watt of electricity and the latter 0.967 Watt. Also, while looking at the Kintex family's temperatures, we find 32.4 degrees Celsius and the Zync family 26.4 degrees Celsius. The Zync family of FPGAs has more energy efficiency than other families, according to this research. This method helps save energy for when we need it later. Moreover, compared to the Kintex, the Zed board is less expensive.
