Cryptojacking on the Blockchain: Detecting and Mitigating Hidden Threats
Cryptojacking, the unauthorized use of computational resources to mine cryptocurrencies, has emerged as a significant threat within blockchain networks. The rapid expansion of blockchain technology, with its decentralized and trustless nature, makes this issue critical to address. This paper specifically focuses on the detection and mitigation of cryptojacking threats within blockchain systems. Existing literature identifies numerous challenges in effectively identifying and combating these hidden attacks, including the lack of comprehensive detection mechanisms and the evolving nature of cryptojacking techniques. Our research introduces a novel approach that combines advanced anomaly detection algorithms with blockchain-specific heuristics to identify and mitigate cryptojacking activities. This is the first time such an integrative method has been proposed, aiming to enhance the precision and efficiency of detection. Our experimental results demonstrate a significant improvement in identifying cryptojacking incidents, with a detection accuracy surpassing current state-of-the-art solutions. Additionally, our mitigation strategies show promising potential in reducing the impact of cryptojacking, setting a new benchmark for security in blockchain environments.
