Mainstreaming Trends for Research on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-Based Object Detection in China

With the continuous advancement of artificial intelligence and computer vision, UAV-based object detection has found widespread applications in military, civil, and commercial sectors. To objectively assess the research status of UAV-based object detection in China, this study conducted a search in the National Knowledge Infrastructure Database of China using the keyword “UAV-based object detection.” The paper first introduces the background and significance of UAV-based object detection, followed by a summary of the current research status in China: the optimization and improvement of UAV-based object detection primarily rely on deep learning-based convolutional neural network architectures. Finally, based on the current research trends, the study discusses the prospects and challenges, with the expectation that significant breakthroughs will be made in improving the accuracy, real-time performance, and robustness of UAV-based object detection, thus promoting its broader application.
