Design Analysis of Dual-Band Reconfigurable Frequency Selective Surface Unit Cell for S-Band and C-Band Application
A novel Reconfigurable Frequency Selective Surface (RFSS) is proposed for the resonant frequencies of 4.7 GHz and 2.6 GHz. The proposed FSS unit cell is more suitable for the C-band and S-band applications such as Indian National Satellite System (4.5 GHz – 4.8 GHz), and mobile broadband (2.4 GHz – 2.79 GHz). It consists of FR-4 substrate material, metal conductor and 4 PIN diodes. The overall dimension is 7.2 × 7.2 × 1.6 mm3. Proper boundary conditions have been used for achieving the transmission/reflection coefficients <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$(\mathrm{S}_{{21}}/\mathrm{S}_{{11}})$</tex>. Angular stability is estimated using TE and TM polarization and found as 70°.
