Performance Evaluation of Grid-Tied PV System in Metrorail Stations: A Case Study in MRT-6, Dhaka
The most effective strategy to curb the devastation caused by fossil fuels is deploying green technologies. Despite being the best alternative to fossil fuels, renewable energy sources have challenges such as inadequate space, planning, and technological usage. However, integrating renewable energy sources like solar power into the current infrastructure can lessen these difficulties. This study looks at the rooftops of current Dhaka metro rail stations (MRS) to build grid-connected photovoltaic systems and analyzes their performance in Dhaka. Consideration has been given to a mathematical model of the GCPV on MRS's rooftops. In Dhaka, sixteen MRSs have been constructed, and System Advisor Model (SAM) software has been used to compare the techno-economic performance metrics. This research demonstrates that it is a workable way to meet energy needs while lowering reliance on fossil fuels and encouraging the use of energy in a sustainable way. Bangladesh can shrink its greenhouse gas emissions to the amount stipulated in the Paris Agreement with the aid of this concept.
