Design and Analysis of MIMO Antenna for 5G Millimeter Wave Applications
The main objective of designing a MIMO antenna is to provide high gain and better spectral efficiency. This is achieved by designing compact size antenna with meta material that provides high gain. This study focuses on the design and analysis of a MIMO antenna that is specifically designed for 5G millimeter-wave applications, since compact antennas are required with high gains. The proposed antenna is very compact in size at 25 mm x 25 mm and the substrate used is Rogers RT Duroid 5880 material, which is very suitable for high-frequency applications. The proposed MIMO antenna operates in the frequency band from 37 to 44 GHz. The antenna has 10 dB impedance bandwidth so that the performance is robust with wide frequency spectrum. The elements have been strategically arranged, and the edge-to-edge distance is maintained at 5 mm, resulting in impressive isolation of −20 dB with less interference and bettering overall system performance. The designed antenna operates in 37 – 44 GHz band is suitable for unmanned systems, wireless power transfer and Space and satellite services and 5G cellular frequency bands.
