A Home LED Lighting System Employing Solar Energy and Lithium Ferro Phosphate Battery with IoT Connectivity

To provide an alternative light source based on renewable energy and for reducing grid power consumption in homes of urban areas, a low-power and low-cost home lighting system is proposed in this paper. The proposed system employs a solar panel, a lithium ferro phosphate (LiFePO4) battery, LED lamps, and a control unit employing an Arduino NANO board. A Bluetooth module (HC-06) is connected to the control unit for IoT connectivity. The intensity of the lamps can be controlled through a mobile phone and the battery voltage can be monitored and displayed simultaneously. A mobile App has been developed for connectivity between the control unit and a mobile phone. An experimental prototype employing five LED tube lights of 15 W each is designed. The system design and the demonstration of the prototype is presented in this paper.
