Optimal Pulse Energy Modulation for SWIPT Systems With Integrated Receivers
This work focuses on optimizing the constellation design for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) systems with integrated receivers that affect the modulation scheme and require non-coherent symbols. Specifically, we propose, analyze and compare the optimal pulse energy modulation (PEM) with the uniform PEM. The work focuses on the trade-off between symbol error probability (SEP) and peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), minimizing SEP while constraining PAPR. An analytical solution to the optimization problem is derived using Lagrange dual decomposition, which provides an efficient framework for the optimal constellation structure. The SEP performance of the optimal PEM in additive white Gaussian noise channels is demonstrated and validated through numerical simulations. The results show that the proposed PEM achieves reliable information transmission and superior energy harvesting efficiency compared to the uniform design.
