Liquid-Supported Dentures: A Boon for Flabby Ridges
Atrophic ridges make prosthetic rehabilitation difficult due to the poor stability and retention. In contrast to typical complete dentures, the liquid-supported denture provided continues to adapt to the mucosa in both resting and functional states. This article describes an inventive laboratory process for the fabrication of a liquid supported denture. A liquid supported denture facilitates a uniform stress distribution and improves patient acceptance due to its flexible tissue interface. A prosthodontic problem in creating stability and retention of the prosthesis is severely resorbed ridges. In such cases, liquid-supported dentures provide an option while taking traditional prosthodontics into account. The primary drawbacks of the hard denture base materials are eliminated with liquid-supported dentures, providing the wearer with appropriate retention, stability, support and comfort. Therefore, liquid-supported dentures play an important role in prosthetic dentistry due to their ability to absorb trauma. Because the occlusal forces are distributed more uniformly in this approach, patient comfort and acceptance can be further enhanced.
