One neuroprotective lignanamide from Solanum Septemlobum Thunb
The whole plant of <i>Solanum Septemlobum</i> Thunb., called Shu Yangquan in traditional Chinese medicine, has the traditional function of clearing away heat and toxic material. Chemical investigation on the ethanol extract of <i>S. Septemlobum</i> afforded a new lignanamide (<b>1</b>) and a known compound caffeic acid ethyl ester (<b>2</b>). Compound <b>1</b> displayed moderate antineuroinflammatory effects (IC50 values of 25.3 μM) compared with minocycline (IC50 value of 12.1 μM) against NO production on LPS-treated BV2 cells.
