Greenhouse gases and sustainability: using data to monitor progress on dairy farms

Background: Farmers are increasingly being asked to reduce the environmental effects of their products. Vets should be in a position to be central to these efforts and hence need to better understand the areas where they can help their clients. Aim of the article: This article aims to give practitioners a background to the greenhouse gas emissions associated with dairy production, so that they can understand which areas to concentrate on to reduce them and to start to quantify these potential reductions.
