Process technology for natural gas purification from trace impurities of water and other detrimental compounds

Currently, due to the severe depletion of many hydrocarbon deposits, there is an urgent need to create new highly efficient technologies and processes to increase oil and gas production and treatment at the fields. Many of these fields, which are in the last stages of development due to long-term operation, are characterized by falling reservoir pressure, high water content, high moisture content, sulfur compounds and other trace impurities in the extracted hydrocarbon raw materials. In this regard, there is an urgent need to improve old technologies and create new more efficient processes for the field preparation of hydrocarbon raw materials in oil and gas fields. The purpose of this work was to analyze modern technologies for dewatering natural gas, to select and create the most effective process for purifying natural gas from trace amounts of water and other harmful substances. Based on the conducted research, the most effective two-stage scheme for natural gas purification has been developed: at the first stage of separation, low-temperature and inline separators are used, which makes it possible to more effectively remove "basic" water and other trace impurities from the raw gas, and at the second stage of adsorption purification, a deeper purification of natural gas from trace impurities of water and gaseous sulfur compounds is used (hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans), this makes it possible to significantly reduce the dew point temperature in water to minus 70 °C and significantly increase the inter-generation cycle during the transportation of natural gas., while gas transportation from offshore platforms is possible. The most effective adsorbents based on aluminum oxide γ-Al2O3 and improved CaA (U) for deep purification of natural gas from trace amounts of water and other harmful trace amounts have been experimentally determined. Schematic diagrams have been developed with the binding of the main components and devices: a low-temperature separation process with an inline separator and an adsorption unit with effective adsorbents for deeper purification of natural gas from water impurities and trace substances.
