The challenge of dealing with the unexpected eventually becomes familiar territory for student affairs professionals. For Krissy Surface, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and the Student Experience at Purdue University Fort Wayne, the unexpected came in the form of the death of a beloved student leader on campus, a global pandemic eight months into her first stint as a VP/VC, and a total revamping of her university's name, colors, and identity, to name just a few events.
