Theoretical Analysis and Demonstration of <scp>LCL</scp>‐Circuit and Linearization of Dielectric Barrier Discharge
An LCL‐circuit can achieve high boost voltages without a transformer, using only a resonant circuit, which is suitable for driving a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) load that requires high‐voltage AC waveforms. However, it is difficult to design and adjust. In this study we perform a theoretical analysis of LCL‐circuit in the steady state. We derive the resonance conditions and characteristic equations of the circuit by approximating the nonlinear DBD load to a highly accurate linear circuit model. We then verify the results, using a prototype, and obtain sufficient agreement between the theory and actual measurements. The model of this study is extremely useful for the design and operation analysis of LCL‐circuit for driving DBD loads. © 2025 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan and Wiley Periodicals LLC.
