MESENTERIC VENOUS THROMBOSIS AS A SOURCE OF SEPSIS
Mesenteric venous thrombosis is a rare pathology. The outcomes of the mesenteric venous thrombosis treatment remain disappointing and directly depend on the preoperative disease duration. This article presents a description of a rare case of mesenteric venous thrombosis complicated by sepsis with a fatal outcome. The presence of a generalized infection was established on the 25th day of hospital stay, one day before the patient’s death. Mesenteric venous thrombosis was not diagnosed during the patient's lifetime. This clinical case confirms the fact that due to the paucisymptomatic clinical course, the absence of pathognomonic symptoms, and the rarity of the pathology, mesenteric venous thrombosis is a difficult disease to diagnose. Thrombosed mesenteric veins can become a source of sepsis.
