Electromagnetic Characteristics Study of Crankshaft ICRF Antenna

Abstract Radio frequency wave heating is an important heating method on magnetic confinement fusion device. This paper is based on the structural design parameters of the crankshaft ICRF antenna, and the electromagnetic characteristics of the antenna are simulated by using ANYSS HFSS, to obtain the antenna reflection coefficient, the power performance, and the characteristics of the electric field and current distribution. The aim is to preliminarily evaluate the electromagnetic characteristics of the crankshaft antenna, and further analyze the influence of the inner and outer radius of the coaxial transmission line, as well as the distance between the antenna straps on the electromagnetic characteristics of the crankshaft antenna. The results show that: increasing the ratio of the inner and outer radius of the coaxial transmission line can effectively reduce the antenna reflection coefficient and improve both the received power and radiated power; Additionally, adjusting the distance between the straps results in a decrease in both the minimum amplitude and frequency of the reflection coefficient. The analysis method and results provide valuable references for the design and application of crankshaft ICRF antennas, as well as insights for reducing arcing risks caused by power reflection and optimizing the design of water-cooling systems.
