Design of a High Step-up DC-DC Converter with Fault-Tolerant Capability

This paper presents a fault-tolerant (FT) DC-DC boost converter developed for applications where high reliability is paramount. Employing a reconfiguration strategy, the converter integrates fault-tolerant functions without the need for extra components. Its adaptable topology ensures stable operation across various switch-fault cases, enabling fullpower post-fault performance and swift fault recovery, reducing downtime-a crucial factor in mission-critical uses. The design also optimizes power flow, leading to Reduced Redundant Power Processing and improved efficiency. Under different switch-fault scenarios, the converter exhibits adjusted operation characteristics. In Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM), it achieves significant voltage gain with low voltage stress on devices. Extensive MATLAB simulations validate the converter’s performance, with results thoroughly analyzed.
