A Multi-Input High Step-Up DC-DC Converter for Renewable Energy Sources

In this paper a novel multi-input high step-up dc-dc converter is proposed that achieves substantial voltage elevation through a combination of switched-capacitor, coupled-inductor, and cascaded approaches. This converter offers advantages such as substantial voltage elevation, continuous input current, recycling the energy of the leakage inductance of the coupled-inductor, multiple input capability, and lower voltage stress on active components. The reduced voltage stress on the switches enables the selection of switches with lower on-resistance, leading to higher efficiency. The converter’s operational principles under steady-state conditions are analyzed. The proposed converter has been expanded by increasing the number of modules to enhance voltage gain. The proposed converter can supply power to the load from any or all input sources. The proposed topology’s performance was evaluated through simulations with a $24 \mathrm{~V} / 24 \mathrm{~V}$ input and a target output of 400 V at 300 W. The simulations demonstrated its capability to achieve the desired output with appropriate duty cycle control.
