Implementation of PV Based Converter Control for Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle

Pollution is one of the major problems in our environment. With the aim of achieving a pollution-free environment, the world has already started running beyond E-items. One such thing which does a great part in making the environment pollution free is the emergence of electric vehicles. The increasing prevalence of electric vehicles is straining the power grid, prompting the adoption of photovoltaic (PV) charging solutions to alleviate peak demand and reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources. Thus, solar power efficiently replaces the diminishing non- renewable resources. Therefore, solar power system for plug-in electric vehicle is preferred. This paper explores the different modes of charging the Plug-in electric vehicle using both solar energy and an external battery source. It also analyses the variation of change in voltage and power due to change in irradiation. Notable advantages are achieved such as low cost, increased efficiency of the grid and eco-friendly environment. In this paper, circuit representations of individual converters, their simulations and outputs are discussed.
