An Error-Free and Reliable Data Communication Between People Using Human Body as a Network Medium

This study presents the development and validation of a reliable and error-free data communication system using the human body as a network medium. By leveraging capacitive coupling as the transmission method and optimizing signal frequency in the 5 MHz to 10 MHz range, we achieved a significant reduction in Bit Error Rate (BER), with values as low as 0.05% at 10 MHz for stable body parts such as the chest. Extensive impedance measurements revealed that the body's conductivity varied under different physiological conditions, affecting signal transmission. We implemented real-time error detection and correction using Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) and Reed-Solomon codes, reducing data loss to 0.2% and ensuring synchronization times as low as 5ms for two devices. Our Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM) technique improved synchronization efficiency and minimized errors, making it feasible to manage communication among up to 10 devices. The system's performance is evaluated through a series of signal transmission experiments, demonstrating high reliability with a data transfer rate of 570 Kbps at the head and chest. Overall, our results confirm that the human body can serve as an effective medium for secure and reliable data communication, with minimal interference and high accuracy.
