Non-isolated Single-Inductor Multi-port DC-DC Converter with variable and Fully Reconfigurable Structure

Multiport DC-DC converters (MPCs) enable the integration of unidirectional and bidirectional sources with output loads. This paper introduces a novel single-inductor MPC topology featuring bidirectional parallel or series ports, reducing port voltage restrictions by utilizing the buck-boost power transfer property. Furthermore, by incorporating switch-diode cells, series or parallel bidirectional ports can be added on the input side, the output side, or both simultaneously, thereby establishing bypass, charging, and discharging circuits for the bidirectional ports. In this study, a three-port converter (TPC) with dual bidirectional ports is proposed, which achieves all existing power transmission modes while offering high integration, compact size, minimal magnetic and semiconductor components, and reduced voltage constraints. The operational modes of this converter and the advantages of the proposed TPC over other TPCs were analyzed, and simulation results are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.
