Design and Simulation of Integrated Active Rectifier with Damped LCL Filter for Efficient Vector Controlled Induction Motor Drives

This paper presents the design and simulation of an integrated active rectifier with a damped LCL filter for efficient vector-controlled induction motor drives. The active rectifier, utilizing Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) at an 8 kHz switching frequency, improves power factor, reduces harmonic distortion, and stabilizes DC link voltage. An LCL filter mitigates high-frequency harmonics, with damping strategies addressing resonance issues. A twoloop dq controller, comprising inner current and outer voltage loops, ensures precise control of torque and flux. MATLAB simulations validate the system, showing enhanced harmonic mitigation, improved power factor, and stable dynamic performance. The proposed solution is compact, robust, and suitable for modern motor drive applications, significantly improving control precision.

Abstract

This paper presents the design and simulation of an integrated active rectifier with a damped LCL filter for efficient vector-controlled induction motor drives. The active rectifier, utilizing Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) at an 8 kHz switching frequency, improves power factor, reduces harmonic distortion, and stabilizes DC link voltage. An LCL filter mitigates high-frequency harmonics, with damping strategies addressing resonance issues. A twoloop dq controller, comprising inner current and outer voltage loops, ensures precise control of torque and flux. MATLAB simulations validate the system, showing enhanced harmonic mitigation, improved power factor, and stable dynamic performance. The proposed solution is compact, robust, and suitable for modern motor drive applications, significantly improving control precision.
