Coupled Inductor Based Dual-Switch High Step-Up DC-DC Converter with Reduced Voltage Stress on Switches

This paper introduces a novel dual-switch high step-up converter utilizing a two-winding coupled inductor (CI). The proposed design incorporates two switches, four diodes, one inductor, three capacitors, and a single coupled inductor. This configuration enables the converter to achieve a high voltage conversion ratio with a reduced number of components and low voltage stress on the MOSFETS. The low voltage stresses on the power components make the converter more cost-effective compared to other high step-up DC-DC converters. Additionally, some of the semiconductor devices in the proposed converter operate under zero-current switching (ZCS), notably less lessening switching losses and improving general efficiency. Since three out of the four diodes turn off under ZCS conditions, reverse recovery losses are minimized. Furthermore, the topology requires only one gate driver, further reducing costs. Theoretical analyses have been conducted and validated using simulation results obtained from MATLAB/Simulink software.
