Optimizing Cylindrical Antennas for Cost Savings Using Non-Integer Arrays

This study introduces a cost-effective and spectrally efficient approach to deploying cylindrical antenna arrays in cellular networks using non-integer array configurations. Traditional integer-based arrays require many antenna elements, increasing infrastructure costs and deployment complexity. By adopting non-integer spacing both vertically and horizontally, our method shows that fewer elements are needed while maintaining or enhancing beam strength and focus. Simulations confirm that non-integer arrays improve beam characteristics, sum-rate capacity, and spectral efficiency, thanks to reduced mutual coupling and lower signal correlation, especially in multipath channels. This approach offers a viable, cost-effective alternative for next-generation wireless technologies, including 6G networks.
