Low Power Optical and Gate for Photonic Integrated Circuits
A periodic nanostructure called a photonic crystal is utilized to create logic gates. In this paper, the AND gate is designed in the 2D photonic crystal. Defects in the Si rod-based square lattice have been created to actualize the two inputs. The AND gate's performance has been examined using the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) approach. The AND gate has a minimum contrast ratio of 4.6dB and a maximum contrast ratio of 7.71dB. Also it offers bit rate of about 3.125Tbps. The logic gates performance is improved by the bit rate and contrast ratio. This device will have higher speed and low power consumption. It can be widely used in optical computing, optical devices, etc.
