A New Dual-Input Single-Output DC-DC Converter with Reduced Passive Components

In this paper, a dual input non-isolated three-level dc-dc converter is developed. The proposed converter comprises two inputs and one output. Three modes of operation are presented in this study, which are charging, discharging, and discharging - charging modes. The suggested converter is designed to interface bidirectional power sources; thus, it can transfer the power between inputs and output in both directions. The shown topology reduces the inductance and the capacitance values of the converter components when compared to the two-level topologies. This is done by using an effective switching frequency applied for the converter switches. Moreover, a comparative analysis between the proposed converter and different power converters is performed. A $2-K W$ prototype converter is implemented and is tested under different operating conditions to verify the proposed theory. The analyses given are in good agreement with the simulation and experimental results.
