A Common Ground Ultra-High Step-up DC-DC Converter with Low Voltage Stress on SemiConductors for DC Microgrid Applications

Thispaper introduces a DC-DC converter with an ultra-high voltage gain (UHSD), tailored for DC microgrids. The proposed converter design incorporates a hybrid combination of boosting cells, a coupled inductor (CI), and an adapted SEPIC structure. The introduced converter is characterized by its elevated voltage gain, minimal input current ripple, the common ground connection between input and output ports, and reduced voltage stress on semiconductor elements, making it well-suited for integration into renewable energy systems (RES). Furthermore, a control strategy based on the pole-placement method, utilizing input current control, is proposed to enhance the dynamic response of the proposed converter. Finally, the analytical relationships of the suggested converter are verified using a 200 W test prototype operating at a switching frequency of 50 kHz.
