Guarding the Gateways: CBP Cybersecurity Challenges and Strategies
With threats growing larger and more sophisticated, safeguarding the integrity of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) infrastructure has already served as an important line in national security. A breach in CBP's systems could potentially have dire consequences, causing not only significant financial loss and damage to their reputation, but also sacrificing national security at its very core. This research offers a comprehensive overview of key elements of cyber security strategies that aim to protect CBP's digital assets from certain types of high-stakes threats. These include ransomware, phishing, and insider attacks. It stresses the value of robust cybersecurity policies, such as proactive employee training, raw intensive policy-making and strategic reintegration of state-of-the-art technologies. By analyzing the latest attacks, this study discusses the 2019 United States (US) CBP data breach and analyses key areas for enhanced scrutiny. It calls for a proactive approach to cyber defense, one that prioritizes resilience and anticipates future threats to national security.
