Distributed Event-Based Secondary Control for Precise Reactive and Harmonic Power Sharing in Islanded AC Microgrids

The proliferation of diverse loads in islanded AC Microgrids (MGs) poses a challenge for precise power sharing among Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). This article introduces a novel secondary control method utilizing a Distributed Event-Triggered Approach (DETA) designed for AC autonomous MGs. The DETA addresses circulating voltage drops across various loads, aiming to achieve accurate load sharing without requiring knowledge of mismatched feeder impedance. Incorporating time- and state-dependent threshold terms increases convergence rates while reducing the frequency of triggering events. Using Lyapunov stability analysis, parameters for the event-triggering function are determined and exclusion of Zeno behavior is proved. Extensive simulation results confirm the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed control scheme.
