Fake Social Media Profile Detection Using Machine Learning
The use of social media through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn sites in communicative purposes has become very common all over the world but is still challenged by an emerging fictitious profile established by humans, bots, and other automated systems. The spread of information by these accounts along with the issue of identity theft and phishing gives a great threat to security. It is an artificial neural network-based model on detecting fakes among authentic profiles, which are of user accounts of Twitter with high precision, and the basis for this profiling of authenticity lies in necessary calculations of metrics such as follower counts and friend counts plus status changes. It further tried to increase the precision with critical feature selection in the procedure, as well as the optimization of the structure of hyperparameters of the ANN model. Thus, it aims at ANN in this research study to come up with robust solutions regarding the improvement of integrity and security in social media.
