Enhancing Smart Home Automation: Secure AC Control and Environmental Monitoring with MQTT
In line with the advancements in Internet of Things (loT) technology and its wide range of applications, this paper presents a secure AC control switch bot with an environmental monitoring system, using the loT concepts and the MQTT communication protocol. The system integrates a servo motor, a DHTII sensor, and an LED to monitor and control environmental parameters. The Raspberry Pi (RPi) collects temperature and humidity data and publishes it via MQTT to the NodeMCU (ESP8266) micro-controller, which controls the servo motor to press the AC's on/off button based on specified temperature thresholds in a conditional statement. The main objective is to use two MQTT topics to manage the servo motor and LED, based on data received by the RPi and the secure web interface. The RPi functions as a publisher and broker, ensuring secure communication through TLS/SSL encryption and user authentication to overcome ongoing data cyber threats. This research demonstrates a practical and secure approach to 10T-based environmental control, highlighting its potential in smart home automation.
