A Broadband Dual-Polarized Meta-Dielectric Resonator Antenna Array

A broadband dual-polarized meta-dielectric resonator antenna (MDRA) array with high isolation is presented in this letter. The MDRA consists of the 4 × 4 meta-dielectric resonator (MDR) elements, which can generate two resonant modes for the broadband operation. The side length of each MDR element is about 0.104λ0 (λ0 is the free-space wavelength at the center frequency) and its height is 0.132λ0. The cross-slot and two orthogonal microstrip feed networks are adopted to obtain the dual-polarized operation. To achieve high gain for the practical applications, the MDRA is arranged to form a 2 × 2 array. To verify the design, the MDRA array is fabricated and measured. The measurement results show the –10 dB impedance bandwidth of 57.4% for the H-polarization and 57.7% for the V-polarization, the isolation of more than 29.5 dB and a stable radiation pattern at the operation band. The proposed MDRA array will be an important candidate scheme for future broadband communication applications.
