Sustainable, nonflammable and superoleophobic chitosan-phytic acid@attapulgite coating on polyamide textile: Efficient remediation of corrosive high-temperature oily water
Developing a durably, safe, and eco-friendly polymer-based materials for separating oily wastewater is highly desired. Herein, a fire-resistant and underwater superoleophobic coating is fabricated onto polyamide fiber textile (PFT) via simple self-assembly of chitosan (CS), phytic acid (IP6), and attapulgite (APT). The composite coating endows the textile with self-quenched flame retardance, enhanced thermal stability, and superior superhydrophilic/oil-repelling property. The CS/IP6@APT decorated textile can be used for separating various light oil/water mixture with separation efficiency greater than 98.2 %. Simultaneously, the textile displays excellent chemical and mechanical stability and is capable of separating hot corrosive water from their oily water with high treatment efficiency. Specially, the efficiencies of the prepared PFT to oil/hot corrosive water mixture separation are above 97.2 % even after 20 cycles of separation. The green raw materials for coating fabrication, superior fire retardance, good separation property, and easily scaled-up fabrication process make the developed PFT show great potential in industrial and environmental oily wastewater treatment . • An underwater superoleophobic and nonflammable textile was fabricated. • The preparation process is simple, facile, and eco-friendly. • The textile can excellent self-extinguishing fire resistance. • The textile can separate hot corrosive water/oil mixture.
