The impact of using dendritic fibrous Bi2Sn2O7 as a partial cement replacement in mortar, serving as a key additive for ultra-high-performance concrete

Ensuring an even dispersion of nanoparticles is essential for enhancing the quality of concrete mixtures with low water-to-binder ratios, particularly in high-performance concrete applications. However, at higher concentrations, dispersing nanoparticles effectively becomes challenging when relying on conventional plasticizers. This research focused on producing Ultra-High-Performance Concretes (UHPC) using dendritic fibrous Bi 2 Sn 2 O 7 ( DF Bi 2 Sn 2 O 7 ). The study aimed to utilize DF Bi 2 Sn 2 O 7 to enhance the performance and durability of Portland cement, particularly in providing exceptional sulfate resistance. DF Bi 2 Sn 2 O 7 was also incorporated into cement mortar to evaluate its effects on particle aggregation, the hydration process, and the mortar's microstructure. The results demonstrated that adding DF Bi 2 Sn 2 O 7 improved the toughness, mechanical properties, and durability of the cement specimens. Its inclusion reduced chloride ion permeability and minimized the void content within the material. Additionally, the cement mortar with DF Bi 2 Sn 2 O 7 exhibited greater compressive strength compared to the control samples.
