Vertical screw intermediate support material conveying simulation

The vertical screw conveyor serves as a crucial piece of machinery for the handling and conveying of bulk cargo. A thorough examination of the intermediate support structure, which is a vital component of this system, can lead to significant advancements in its design and optimization, ultimately boosting the efficiency of bulk cargo conveying. To analyze this, we utilize discrete element analysis software, EDEM, alongside a defined periodic boundary model to simulate the operational conditions of the vertical screw conveyor with various intermediate support configurations, specifically for bulk granules like coal powder. From the discrete element simulation analysis, the vertical screw conveying capacity to convey material with the new intermediate spoke design experiences a slight decline, while the power needed to operate the screw sees a modest uptick. However, the speed at which materials are conveyed along the axis remains largely unchanged. On the upside, the demands for precision in manufacturing and installation have been significantly eased.
