Ablative characteristics of high-silica-cloth silicone-rubber matrix composites under solid rocket ramjet operation condition

The high silica cloth-silicone rubber matrix composite was used as insulation material for the afterburner of solid rocket ramjet, and the ablative samples of high silica cloth-silicone rubber matrix composite after ramjet test were studied. The results show that the ablative samples are stratified obviously. There are a large number of bubbles and pores in the ablative surface layer, and the pore size distribution of the ceramic layer is complex. The content of macropores (pore diameter >50nm) is the largest, while the content of mesopores and micropores is small. Due to the reaction between the insulation material and oxygen-rich gas, the C element in the ablative surface is consumed, mainly containing Si and O elements. There are a large amount of C elements and some Si and O elements in the ceramic layer. The material thickness is basically unchanged before and after ablation, therefore, the line ablation rate can be ignored.
