TO STUDY THE POSSIBILITY OF OBTAINING METHYLATED SILICA OBTAINED ON THE BASIS OF SULFURIC ACID DECOMPOSITION OF NEPHELINE CONCENTRATE

The results of research on the synthesis of methylated silica based on silicon dioxide obtained by sulfuric acid processing of nepheline concentrate are presented. The surface of silica samples methylated in two different ways was studied using scanning electron microscopy and electron micro probe analyzer; the structural and surface properties of these samples were studied. It has been established that modification of the surface of SiO2 with methyl radical makes it possible to hydrophobize its surface, as well as to impart affinity to nonpolar organic compounds, which can be used in the creation of membrane filters for water purification.

Abstract

The results of research on the synthesis of methylated silica based on silicon dioxide obtained by sulfuric acid processing of nepheline concentrate are presented. The surface of silica samples methylated in two different ways was studied using scanning electron microscopy and electron micro probe analyzer; the structural and surface properties of these samples were studied. It has been established that modification of the surface of SiO2 with methyl radical makes it possible to hydrophobize its surface, as well as to impart affinity to nonpolar organic compounds, which can be used in the creation of membrane filters for water purification.
