DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF A TECHNOLOGY FOR REPROCESSING DEPLETED URANIUM METAL CHIPS AT THE RT-1 PLANT
Fabrication of items made of depleted uranium metal is accompanied with generation of waste in the form of uranium metal chips. As a rule, it is stored in storehouses. It was proposed to dissolve the chips and to use the resulted solutions in the RT-1 plant processes. The authors worked out conditions for safe loading of chip briquettes into the dissolver and their subsequent dissolution there. Experience gained during industrial-scale operation has demonstrated the validity of the selected process parameters.
